Depending on their intended use, Big Bag sacks may have:
UN Certificate
More detailed information is available on the Paktainer website – link to Paktainer UN bags.
Food Contact Certificate
Compliance with EU standards. All Big Bags we offer are approved for food contact. We will provide you with full documentation for the delivered packaging. Remember: Big Bag packaging is sewn, and the production process involves manual manipulation of components. The results of migration or heavy metal testing are just one aspect of the chemical safety of the product. However, this does not mean that the bag is physically or microbiologically safe!
Production conditions are of paramount importance. The packaging we offer is BRCGS-certified. Each package is vacuum-cleaned (if not lined) and metal-detected. On the market, you may encounter declared “food-grade bags” in which customers have found thread remnants, insects, hairs, or bacteria (poor operator hygiene). Your product is only as good as the packaging it is packed in.
ISO Quality Certificates – ISO 21898
These confirm the safe working load (SWL) and the safety factor (SF). Most common load capacity: 1000 kg Also available: 1250 kg, 1500 kg, 2000 kg
Safety factors:
- SF 5:1 - single-use bag
- SF 6:1 - reusable
- SF 8:1 - rare, reusable with repair capability
Bag strength depends on its construction, lifting loops, and fabric (grammage).
Attention: Price pressure causes some manufacturers to offer dangerous, "slim" versions - e.g. 140 g fabric for a 1,000 or 1,250 kg bag.
Remember: In practice, the product is not smooth, and filling does not take place under laboratory conditions.
Polypropylene loses strength when exposed to UV.
High-quality fabrics must be properly stabilized.
At bigbags.pl we offer only safe packaging — we never use fabric below 160 g, and often use 200–220 g.
Certificates Confirming Electrostatic Properties
Standard: IEC 61340-4-4 Depending on dustiness, particle size, and risks in the Big Bag’s environment, one may require:
Type B - antistatic
Type C - conductive (charge-dissipating)
Type D - charge-dissipative
Using a standard bag (Type A) with materials of low ignition energy is extremely dangerous.
